'The first call to prayer takes place a little before sunrise (you're meant to say your prayer before the sun comes up). The second prayer is at mid-day (I think it's the time at which the sun reaches its zenith). The third prayer has something to do with shadows: it's supposed to take place at the time when your shadow is twice as long as you are, or something along those lines. At any rate, it's in the mid-afternoon. The fourth prayer is at sunset, as soon as the sun disappers (or theoretically disappears, if you're in the middle of a city). And the fifth prayer is at night-fall: ie. the time when the light of the sun finally goes. The exact times depend on where in the world you are and what the season is. The last prayer of the day is usually a half hour to an hour and half after sunset.'

'(a comment from the lonely planet website -- which means that next time, I will get up at 4!!!!)'
